The prize?

I’ll randomly select a winner to win a $15 giftcard to Amazon.

My Answer: Your breakfast no longer consists of a granola bar but turns into a huge ordeal consisting of 5-7 ingredients filled with seeds, nut butters, oats, and yogurts.

What are some of yours?

It’s FRIDAY! I seriously live for weekends.

Today’s fuel includes:

Breakfast Mess with Blueberry Brown Cow Greek Yogurt, Almond Butter, Banana, chia Seeds, Puffins and Muesli—the typical which I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of

Lunch is a turkey sandwish, also my usual lately.

Snacks include but are not limited to Trail Mix, Clementine, Carrots and Hummus, and a TJ’s Trex Mix Bar, oh and some canteloupe

I think today will be a rest day for working out because I’m eating lunch with a friend and then I doubt I’ll get anything substantial in tonight. Maybe some abwork on the ball since I’ve been meaning to do that all week. I’m looking forward to the weekend. Tonight we were talking about having a game night at our place, but not sure on that yet. I’m planning to take it easy because I want to shoot for an 8-10 mile run on Saturday and I have a lot of other stuff to get accomplished that I want to be rested for. Saturday night we’re all going out for a night on the town and then Sunday I’m going to the Atlanta Hawks game.

What are your plans for the weekend? Trying any new foods?

Like my logic?

I did so good in taking pictures of what I ate and did, and then I got tired and fell asleep before I posted them. I’ll add pictures to the post when I get home and have my camera.

After work, I stopped by Dick’s Sporting Goods in search of new running shoes. For the past three pairs I’ve been buying Adidas Supernovas. I went to the Big Peach Running Co. last year where they fit and size you based on how you run and how your feet are built. It ended up one of the three options for shoes that they gave me were the Adidas Supernovas. Funny thing is, I already had two pairs of them sitting in my closet. Apparently I already knew what shoe fit me right! So yesterday, I decided to also try a few more on besides the Adidas. It came down to them and a pair of Mizuno Wave Riders. It was a tough choice, but I ended up picking my usual because the Mizunos had a higher arch that I couldn’t decide if I liked or not.

When I got home I had a bowl of V8 Southwestern corn Soup. This is my FAVORITE soup! I love corn to begin with, but in soup it’s even better. You could a cut up chicken to this soup for some more protein if you wanted.

Then, it was time to go try out my new shoes. I had already done some weight lifting during lunch to focus on my arms, but I still wanted to run. I was shooting for 6 but ended up only making 5 miles. My shins were starting to bother me and I really didn’t want to risk anything for one more mile. The shoes felt good, but they’re going to need some breaking in!

After running, I came home and had a banana with almond butter and chia seeds sprinkled on and a clementine. Best post workout snack ever!

I decided that I needed to paint my nails since it had been awhile. I laid out all my stuff and sat down to enjoy Grey’s Anatomy and realized it was a rerun. Don’t you hate when that happens? I ended up settling for The Real Housewives of Orange county. I’ve gotten hooked on this show because it’s sometimes on when I go to the gym.

What’s your favorite guilty pleasure show? I guess you could say I’m the typical girl. I love Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, the Biggest Loser, the Bachelor (for now) and Desparate Housewives. In college I watched General Hospital so that was probably my worst!

Also, what are your favorite brands for running shoes?

My energy for today

Breakfast: Chobani Peach Greek Yogurt, a little Puffins and Muesli, almond butter, chia seeds, and a cut up banana

Lunch: Turkey Sandwich on Ezekiel Bread, Spicy Mustard, Pepperjack Cheese and Lettuce

Snacks: Clementine, Trail Mix, Carrots and Hummus, and a Luna Bar

I’m debating on whether I am going to do my reg Tues/Thurs lunch workout with Step Aerobics, or if I am going to do some weights instead. I didn’t make it to the gym last night, so I’m going to try for a 6 mile run tonight and don’t want to be too tired for that.

What’s the favorite thing you packed or are planning on eating today? Mine is my breakfast. I love getting to taste all the different flavors and textures, and I haven’t tried the peach chobani yet, so that will be a new experience!

Sweet Potato Chips

As my previous posts have said, I’m on a kick to try new(for me) foods. So tonight it sweet potatoes were up! I had bought two at the Farmers Market and wanted to try one out tonight. I had tried sweet potato fries before but they weren’t at all healthy and I wasn’t impressed. Tonight, instead I decided to cut it so I was left with circles and then brushed them with evoo and put some spices on top. I put them in the oven for about 25 mins at 350 deg and then turned it to 400. I also chopped up some tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and red peppers with a little evoo and spices and sauteed them. Though it was a vegetarian meal, I loved it! It was all I needed, and I really like the sweet potatoes ‘chips’. The outsides were chrunchy, but the insides were soft! They were perfect and I would definitely eat them again! Maybe tomorrow since I have another one!? Anyway, here’s a few pictures of my dinner.

I’m going to try to fit in a 3 mile run tonight and some weights, but I’m starting to get comfortable on the couch so we’ll see!

Today’s Fuel

Here’s what I packed today:

My Favorite Breakfast consisting of this time Trader Joe’s Mango Greek Yogurt, puffins, Muesli, chia seeds, banana, and almond butter.

Then, I had some dried fruit and chedder sesame sticks.

I was supposed to meet my professional mentor for lunch, but he had to cancel, so I didn’t have anything packed. I ran across the street and got a mini-Turkey Sub from Firehouse Subs with turkey, wheat bread, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, pickles, oregano, and oil and vinegar. I held back on the chip and soda temptations and ran to the checkout counter before I could change my mind. I did snag a packet of mayonaise….oops, atleast it was only 1! Since lunch, I had a Trader Joe’s Trek Mix bar and I sitll have an apple, some canteloupe, and a clementine if I get hungry. For dinner, I’m thinking of trying one of the sweet potatoes I bought and roasting it along with a salad. I’m ready for the workday to be over already and for the weekend to be here!

A giveaway to share!

Chelsea’s Chew and Run Fun

Chobani, if I were as rich as Oprah, I would give all my friends this stuff because it’s one of my new favorite things! I haven’t tasted a bad flavor yet! Although, pomegranate  is definitely my new favorite! It’s hard finding some of the flavors, but I’ve been looking hard. This stuff seriously is the best Greek Yogurt out there! I hope I win so I can try even more of their flavors!

3 for 1

No it’s not a deal or anything, but I’m going to try to recap the past three days into one post! Like I said in the previous post, I got some new things at the Farmer’s Market. I’m sure most of these foods are normal staples for you, but for someone who is just now venturing out into the health food world, they’re new for me! Most of my lunches have been boring and consisting of turkey sandwiches, ezekiel bread, spicy mustard and lettuce, but I will tell you about a few exciting highlights!

For the past two days, I’ve had my new FAVORITE breakfast. I comine 1 Chobani Pomegranate flavored Greek Yogurt, some Puffins, Muesli, banana sliced, almond butter and chia seeds! It’s the BEST. If you haven’t tried it, you must. I think what makes it is the pomegranate flavor yogurt that I finally found at the Farmers Market this weekend. I wish I had bought more! I’m in love! Another new addition to my breakfast is the chia seeds. I couldn’t even tell they were there and they pack a pretty good nutritional punch!

For dinner the past two nights, I made some angle hair pasta with organic marinara sauce. I also roasted tomatoes, onions, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, zucchini, and squash with a little evoo and spices. I kept the squash separate but poured the rest of the veggies on top of my pasta. It was SO good! I only had one serving per dinner of pasta, but boy was I stuffed both nights! I’m still on the fence about the squash. I can’t decide if I like the texture or not. Not worries, I’ve only eaten about an 1/8th of it, so I have plenty more to try!

Angel Hair Pasta and Roasted Squash

Kiwis, kiwis, Kiwis, another ‘new’ item I’m in LOVE with! I’m still mad at my mom for depriving me of these as a kid. They taste like candy and I’m convinced if I had been exposed to them sooner, I would have eaten more fruit. I would eat one everyday if I could, but I only bought 3 for the week, so I’m trying to ration. I only have one more left :( .

Workout Updates: Monday I took a day of Rest because my shins were hurting and I was worried about getting shin splints which I’ve had before. I iced and rested. Tuesday, I did another 5 mile run on the treadmill while watching Racheal Ray and Paula Deen on the food network….yes, I’m that fat girl at heart drooling over food while i’m working out! I’m hoping to get a 3 miler in today and some strength training as well.

So….as you can see, i haven’t been too great at keeping up with the blog that I recently started. Though, I haven’t been slacking on reading everyone else’s! It really does inspire me after reading about what other people are doing and eating. My camera battery is dead which is also another reason for my absence. But, I will try harder. I think also I’ve been going back and forth trying to decide what the purpose of this blog will be and what I am trying to get out of it. I also get a little intimidated after reading others because I am not a writer or even good at it for that matter. Anyway, here’s a recap of some the past few days, because they have been exciting (for me anyway) on food choices and trying new things. Let me also say that I don’t eat seafood and I guess you could call me a “sheltered” or inexperienced eater, or so I have come to recently find out.

Saturday: I ate at RuSan’s with a friend. Now, I don’t eat sushi or seafood like I said, so this took a lot of talking into. I ended up trying raw tuna, salmon and few other rolls. I also had some snap peas, fried rice, noodles, and few pieces of chicken……oh and maybe an eclair :) . The funniest part was I thought all this time that the pickled ginger was some type of fish! Though I didn’t dislike any of the foods I tried, I’m not sure that I would ever eat them again. I just wasn’t into the texture or the thought of what I was eating. I ate a few snacks during the day and then went for another 5 mile run. I wasn’t really hungry for dinner, so I had some mango sorbet with frozen bananas and then went out with some friends to an irish pub.

Sunday: Millet Bread, almond butter, and a sliced banana for breakfast. Lunch was my mom’s chicken salad on thin white bread. The weather was gorgeous this weekend! It was in the 60′s! Sunday, I set out to try to run for even longer (I recently just started running 5 miles). I went to Piedmont park and ran around the Oval Track for 1.5 hours and made 8 miles….yes 8 miles! I can hardly believe it myself! My shins were hurting and I was out of water, but I wanted to go further. After my run, I headed to the farmer’s market for my weekly shopping trip.

Here’s a few things I got:

Kobachu squash

Zuchinni

Chia Seeds

Angel Hair Pasta

Organic Tomato Sauce

Boar’s Head sliced turkey 1/2 lb

Take and Go Spinach pizza

Chocolate bar

2 Sweet Potatoes

Tomatoes, Onions, other veggies

3 Kiwis

Pomegranate Chobani

Bananas

Hot Sauce

Pepperjack Cheese

Flatbreads

I think that’s most of it! All together, I only spent $48.00 and got tons! I mean tons! of food. $8 of that was the pizza my roommate and I devoured when we got home.

TGIF

So here goes the list in my lunchbox today:

Overnight Oats with 1/2 rolled and 1/2 steel cut, almond butter, banana, and cinnamon

Clementine

Some dried fruit pieces

Canteloupe

Turkey Sandwich on Ezekiel bread, spicy mustard, pepperjack, and turkey

Luna Bar- Cranberry Nut Flavored

I got low intensity workout in during lunch of 30 mins. walking on a 13.0 incline and then some abwork, push ups and weights because I knew I wouldn’t have any time to get one in tonight.

After work I’m meeting some friends for a happy hour and then we’re headed back to my place for some appetizers before a night out on the town. I still have a whole bag of red potatoes from the farmer’s market that I need to dispose of before I eat them! So, I am going to make potato skins /twice baked potatoes out of them. The recipe looks pretty simple and I did most of the preparation work last night. I’m also having some spinach artichoke dip, corn salsa and maybe some cut up cheese and grapes. Dinner will probably be snacking on these somewhat healthy appetizers and maybe a greek yogurt if there’s time.

I’m so ready for the weekend to be here! Only a few more hours of work.
